A Film by Claire Denis
Set in France, Claire Denis' (Chocolat) latest film stars Isaach de Bankole
(Night on Earth) as Dah, an African immigrant, and Alex Descas as Jhocelyn,
a West Indian man. They hook up to supply and train fighting cocks for a sleazy
French saloon owner (Jean-Claude Brialy, Until the End of the World).
The two live in the back of the club, and while Jocelyn trains the birds, Dah
becomes entangled with the owner's mistress (Solveig Dommartin, Wings of
Desire). Soon all four are cast into a violent circle of gambling, desire and
agony, spinning out of control.
